URGENT - Dog Needs Help!

This is a sketch of how the dog I saw this morning look like with the cone stuck to his mouth at HILLTOP Villas, Batu Ferringhi. Went there again in the evening after work but it was too dark to properly scout through the area.

I, on behalf of SOS am appealing to the public to help search for this dog as without removing the cone, it is impossible for him to eat/drink. I have also asked the construction workers nearby to keep a look out but they too said no such dog was sighted just yet.

Anyone who saw and knows the whereabouts of this dog, please contact me at 016-4021781 (Ellen).

3 Male Puppies From Construction Site Required Adopters/Fosterers

This is one of the male puppies that Ah Keat, the construction worker from one of the construction sites at Batu Ferringhi told me about this morning. He said there was a total of 3 males but when he went uphill this morning, there were only 2 left. He was unsure if the other one had wonder off a bit and is gone for good.

We hope adopter(s) can come forward to adopt these puppies. Even if you can help to foster these puppies, that would be good enough. They are pure black in color.

It is absolutely not a good idea to leave them too long at construction sites as they have heavy vehicles moving around day and night.

If you can adopt/foster, please contact Ah Keat at 0125999685. Thank you.

Female Stray On Heat @ Argyl & Transfer Road

After a week of friendship, finally today I managed to get her with the help from SOS's Independent Rescuers, Parveen & Eugene. It took us nearly an hour to make her go in the cage. She is very clever & alert but with the help from car workshop worker nearby, we manage to put the collar on her and push her into the cage.

No doubt she cried and her friends were all barking crazy....BUT no worries, few days later, you will be back with your friends, wearing a Yellow Collar + tag = SOS spayed dog.

The dog is currently resting at my home and we will bring her to spay on Monday.

Poppy Needs A Home

[Appeal from Mr. Tan]
Dear Sir:

My relative, Mr Loh Kim Teik used to live alone with a dog of mixed breed (mongrel) in a house in Sg Ara. The mongrel was stray dog he saved from starvation. Unfortunately Mr Loh who now 82 years old is too ill to stay alone in the Sg Ara house. Mr Loh is no longer staying in the Sg Ara house. Since no relative is able to adopt the dog, the dog is let free in the compound without any care except the dog is fed by the same caterer who brought food to the house, at a price. Without care, the dog has become smelly and contracted skin disease. It would not be possible to get someone to adopt the dog as the dog is old, sick and not good looking. Soon the house will be rented out, we need to find a home for the dog or put the dog top sleep.

Please help to give Poppy a home. With some TLC, Poppy will sure blossom into a charming chap soon. For adoption, please contact Mr. Tan at 012-4942626 or email to tansiangyou@gmail.com / saveourstrays2012@gmail.com

Sayang & Milo For Adoption

[Appeal from Hani Nurhanizah]
We've been fostering these 2 female dogs since 2 weeks ago. They were seen wandering around the neighborhood & the neighbors are threatening them & wanted to lodge a report to MPSP so that these 2 dogs will be killed. The one named Sayang has 3 pups (all adopted).

We thought we could foster them a little longer but terrible things happened. Somebody threw a plastic of human poops & a plastic of f
ood + acid into our compound where the dogs stay. We suspected this was done by our neighbors.

Plus, religious officers came to our house thrice due to the reports made by the neighbors. We are very worry about their safety & we urgently need adopters to adopt them. Please help us to save these innocent creatures!

Location: Taman Nibong Tebal
Contact: 012 300 6082

Humans can be so cruel...Could not even accommodate the existence of 2 innocent lives? Please help to give Sayang & Milo a loving home. They look just so sweet in the photo, don't they?

Animal Welfare Group To Subsidize Spaying Fee

Tuesday October 2, 2012

SAVE Our Strays (SOS) Penang has launched its ‘Spaying Programme’ to help reduce the population of stray animals and discourage the practice of euthanasia.
Under the programme, the organisation will partly subsidise the spaying of strays, up to RM130 for dogs and RM100 for cats.
Currently, the emphasis is on females, but males may be accepted for neutering on a case-by-case basis.
SOS spokesman April Sham said the subsidy only applies if the rescuer agrees to have the animal marked on the left ear, and wear a collar and tag displaying the person’s name and contact details.
All claims will need to be submitted along with a photo of the animal after spaying as well as an original receipt from the veterinary clinic.
“We encourage independent rescuers and feeders to come forward and work along with us to ensure the success of this programme,” Sham said at a recent press conference.
She also appealed to well-wishers for contributions in order to sustain the programme for the long term, adding that it would only run as long as funds were still available.
The SOS is a combined initiative by five NGOs — Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (Northern Region), Malaysia Independent Animal Rescuers, SPCA Sungai Petani, 4Paws and the Penang Humane Society.
They group works tirelessly and selflessly for the benefit of strays, helping to spot, rescue, spay or neuter and feed its unfortunate furry friends.
Sham said most of the members are senior citizens with relatively low-income, but have big hearts, as they go to great lengths to ensure that the welfare of these animals are taken care of.
“They eat, spend, shop and buy less for themselves so they can help these animals using their own pocket money.
“It doesn’t take much to make a difference, as you could feed a dog a day for just RM1,” she explained.
For more information about the programme or to donate to the worthy cause, contact Sham at 012-4708308 or email to saveourstrays2012@gmail.com.

Bid To Save Stray Cats And Dogs With Auction

.

GEORGE TOWN: MODELS and rescued dogs took to the stage at the Boom Boom Chambre  night club here recently to raise funds for an island-wide animal-spaying project.
The event saw models parading rescued dogs for adoption on stage, triggering an intense bidding to take home the cute little mongrels.
Local fashion designer extraordinaire Ranndy Goh also sponsored 10 outfits which was auctioned off to raise money for the project.
In all, over RM7,500 was raised from those who bided for the animals and the clothes.
It was part of the Save Our Strays (SOS) initiative to educate the public on managing stray cats and dogs rather than putting them to sleep.
SOS spokesman April Sham said there was a dire need for youth to help it rescue stray dogs and spay them.
"We urge the council to stop putting these animals to sleep, but instead spay the female dogs or cats," she said.
SOS combines the efforts of five animal rights activist groups, namely the Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (Northern Region), Malaysia Independent Animal Rescuers (MIAR), Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Sungai Petani, Penang Animal Welfare Society (4Paws) and Penang Humane Society (PHS).
For more information, visit its Facebook page at Save Our Strays (SOS) -- Penang.
